State-run Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam Ltd (SJVNL) on Sunday said it's currently building hydro power projects totalling 1,572 megawatts (MW).

The company said that the Himachal Pradesh government has allotted a 780-MW Jangi-Thopan-Powari Hydro Electric Project in Kinnaur district to it.

In a letter of allotment issued by the state's Directorate of Energy, the project is on a build, own, operate and transfer (BOOT) basis for 70 years.

SJNVL Chairman and Managing Director Nand Lal Sharma said the project would be completed in a time-bound manner.

The current installed capacity of SJVNL is 2003.2 MW, comprising 1,912 MW of hydro, 85.6 MW wind power and 5.6 MW solar power.

The company is in the process of implementing various projects, which are at different stages of development. Upon completion, they will add 4,018 MW capacity, he added.

The company has commissioned the country's largest 1,500-MW Nathpa-Jhakri Hydro Power Station in Himachal Pradesh.

Besides executing projects in Himachal Pradesh, SJVNL is executing hydro projects in Nepal, Bhutan, and Uttarakhand.
