GM says new labor deals will cost it $9.3 billion through 2028
General Motors said Wednesday its new North American union contracts will add $9.3 billion in additional total costs through 2028, hiking its costs to produce an average vehicle by $575 over the period.
GM, which said it lost $1.1 billion primarily due to missed production during a more than six-week strike by the United Auto Workers union, said the agreements with the U.S. union and Canadian union Unifor will add $1.5 billion in additional labor costs next year.
