In a significant address at the St Petersburg International Economic Forum on Friday, President Vladimir Putin articulated that there is no current threat to Russia's sovereignty that necessitates the use of nuclear weapons. Yet, he reiterated a stern warning: Moscow holds the right to arm nations or entities that oppose Western interests.

Putin underscored that the use of nuclear weapons would be reserved for 'exceptional cases', none of which he believes have surfaced. However, he firmly stated that Moscow could respond to NATO allies aiding Ukraine by providing arms to strike Western targets. 'If they supply weapons to the combat zone and call for using these weapons against our territory, why don't we have the right to do the same?' Putin questioned.

Furthermore, Putin showcased Russia's economic endurance amidst stringent international sanctions. Highlighting growing economic ties with Africa, the Middle East, and Asia, he emphasized Russia's continued role in global trade despite the curtailing impacts of sanctions following its military actions in Ukraine.
