Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, accompanied by Deputy Chief Ministers Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar, celebrated the formal inauguration by riding in a vintage Rolls Royce. The roadway, christened the Dharamveer Swaraji Rakshak Chhatrapati Sambhaji Mumbai Coastal Road, opens a new chapter in the city's infrastructure advancements.
Vehicular movement commenced from 4 pm on Monday, as per a civic spokesperson. This opening follows the launch of the south-bound arm in March, catering to travelers between Worli and Marine Drive. Combined, the north and south-bound corridors aim to streamline the traffic flow across Mumbai's coastline, bolstered by high-speed corridors and cutting-edge tunnels.
