Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy announced on Friday a significant Rs two lakh loan waiver for farmers, marking a major policy shift aimed at agricultural debt relief.

After a state cabinet meeting, Reddy confirmed that loans taken between December 12, 2018, and December 9, 2023, would be waived in one go. This initiative will cost the state treasury approximately Rs 31,000 crore.

A cabinet sub-committee, led by Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, will finalize the modalities for the farmers' investment support schemes, with the report expected by July 15.
