India-Bangladesh Mega Project: Boosting Ties with Teesta River Conservation and Trade Pact Talks
India is sending a technical team to Bangladesh to start a mega project for conserving the Teesta river. Both nations are also moving forward with discussions on a comprehensive trade pact and bolstering defense ties. The talks between Prime Ministers Narendra Modi and Sheikh Hasina brought forth agreements in various key sectors including health, digital, and energy connectivity.

In a significant step towards enhancing bilateral relations, India is dispatching a technical team to Bangladesh to initiate a major project focused on the conservation and management of the Teesta river. This move comes amid plans to negotiate a comprehensive trade pact and further strengthen defense ties between the two nations.
The two sides signed 10 agreements spanning critical areas such as digital domain, the maritime sphere, blue economy, and health. These agreements aim to foster transformative cooperation in various sectors, reflecting the 'futuristic vision' shared by both countries.
Prime Ministers Narendra Modi and Sheikh Hasina's dialogue also emphasized energy and digital connectivity, with India planning to introduce an e-medical visa for Bangladeshi nationals seeking treatment in India. Additionally, India will open a new assistant high commission in Rangpur to boost diplomatic ties.
