In a dramatic turn of events on Thursday, a Saudi Airlines flight from Riyadh caught fire upon landing at Pakistan’s Peshawar airport. The quick response from Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) fire services ensured the safe evacuation of all 276 passengers and 21 crew members.
The fire, centered on the left-hand side landing gear of the aircraft, was first noticed by air traffic controllers who alerted the pilots and fire teams immediately. CAA spokesperson Saifullah praised the swift action that prevented a major catastrophe.
Using an inflatable slide, the passengers and crew were evacuated safely. Peshawar airport officials confirmed that the airport is operational and all flights will proceed as scheduled.
