The June 2024 edition of the Shriram Mobility Bulletin reveals notable challenges and trends in the logistics and automobile sectors. The bulletin, released today, shows a significant drop in passenger vehicle sales, a rise in the prices of used vehicles, and high inventory levels at dealerships.
According to the bulletin, motor car sales declined by 9%, while fuel consumption for petrol and diesel dropped by 5% in June 2024. Inventory levels at vehicle dealerships are currently at an all-time high, ranging from 62 to 67 days. Used truck prices, which had risen sharply year-over-year, showed some cooling in June.
Additionally, truck rentals exhibited mixed trends, with a 2.6% decrease on the Mumbai-Kolkata-Mumbai route but a 4.1% increase on the Kolkata-Guwahati-Kolkata route. The demand for used commercial vehicles has spiked, particularly for 31 to 36-ton capacity vehicles, which saw a 43% year-over-year increase in prices.
