Cracks that had developed on the Nagpur-Mumbai Samruddhi Expressway near Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar have been repaired, Maharashtra PWD Minister Dada Bhuse announced on Thursday.

The 40-meter long crack, found near Fatiyabad village, was on a section of the expressway that became operational in December 2022. The Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) informed that the crack, caused by a sinking side wall, was fixed using 'epoxy material shalfix SC 40' and will be re-laid by the contractor.

Bhuse also ordered officials to check the entire 600-kilometer route for additional cracks. A viral video showed another issue on the expressway in Thane district, disrupting traffic between Shere Bere and Shendrun villages. Criticism from Maharashtra Congress chief Nana Patole attributed the cracks to corruption, claiming only the powerful have benefited from the Rs 55,000 crore project, now known for numerous accidents.
