Southwest Airlines and Archer Aviation Team Up for Electric Air Taxis

Southwest Airlines and Archer Aviation have agreed to develop plans for electric air taxi networks at California airports. Southwest Airlines and Archer Aviation announced on Friday their agreement to jointly develop operational plans for electric air taxi networks at California airports where the Texas-based airline operates.

According to the companies, they have signed a memorandum of understanding to collaborate on a comprehensive concept of operations. This framework aims to establish integrated electric air taxi networks that would connect various California airports with their surrounding communities.

The initiative focuses on electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft (eVTOL), which have been widely regarded as the future of urban air mobility.
