Goa Resumes Iron Ore Mining Auctions: CM Sawant Reports Progress

Chief Minister Pramod Sawant informed the legislative assembly about the Goa government's steps to restart mining operations, with nine iron ore mineral blocks successfully auctioned. Despite no workers from the mining belt registering with the Labour Department, 9,429 trucks are registered with the Directorate of Mines and Geology. The industry's closure since 2012 impacted the state economy.

The Goa government has initiated efforts to resume mining operations, auctioning nine iron ore mineral blocks successfully, stated Chief Minister Pramod Sawant in the legislative assembly.

Responding to BJP MLA Premendra Shet's inquiry, Sawant revealed that these auctions include 17 former mining leases.

Despite no mining belt workers registered with the Labour Department, 9,429 trucks have been registered with the Directorate of Mines and Geology.

The closure of the iron ore industry since 2012 has impacted Goa's economy significantly. However, the state’s BJP government has revived operations to some extent.
