Delhi Petrol Dealers Strike Over PUCC Fee Hike

The PUCC centres at Delhi's petrol pumps shut for a second day due to a strike by petrol dealers over a proposed hike in pollution-certificate charges. Transport Minister Kailash Gahlot confirmed that 300 alternative PUCC centres remain operational. The strike, initiated by the DPDA, contests the inadequacy of the fee hike compared to operational costs.

The pollution under control certificate (PUCC) centres at Delhi's petrol pumps stayed shut for a second consecutive day on Tuesday, as petrol dealers continued their strike against a proposed hike in pollution-certificate charges.

Transport Minister Kailash Gahlot stated that 300 alternative PUCC centres, located away from petrol pumps, were operational and available for vehicle checks.

The indefinite strike was called by the Delhi Petrol Dealers' Association (DPDA), who argued the fee hike did not align with their increasing operational costs. The Delhi government recently increased PUCC charges for petrol, CNG, and diesel vehicles for the first time in 13 years, with the new rates varying between Rs 20 and Rs 40.
