Global IT Outage Disrupts IndiGo Airlines, Stranding Passengers

A global computer outage affected several Indian airlines, including IndiGo Airlines at Swami Vivekananda Airport in Raipur, leading to flight cancellations and delays. Passengers faced uncertainty due to lack of updates. An impacted tech system caused the disruptions, and efforts are underway with Microsoft Azure to resolve the issues.

A global computer outage on Friday has caused significant disruptions for Indian airlines, notably affecting Swami Vivekananda Airport in Raipur where nine flights of IndiGo Airlines were cancelled, according to officials. The cancelled flights include five departures and four arrivals.

As a result of the technical issues, several other flights faced delays. Affected passengers reported insufficient updates from the airport authority and airlines, heightening their frustration. Suruchi Shrivastav, traveling to Mumbai for her son's chemotherapy, expressed her concerns over the delays and lack of information.

In an official update on X, IndiGo Airlines acknowledged that a Microsoft outage was impacting their systems, affecting bookings, check-ins, and flight schedules. The airline stated that their digital team is collaborating with Microsoft Azure to resolve the disruptions and restore normal operations swiftly.
