Goods Train Derailed in Gujarat; No Injuries Reported

A goods train wagon derailed between Valsad and Surat stations in Gujarat on Friday afternoon. Fortunately, there were no reports of any injuries, according to a Western Railway official.

The train was re-railed at 5.39 pm, more than two hours after the derailment happened at 3.05 pm. Traffic on the DOWN main line will resume upon receiving a track fit certificate, stated a WR spokesperson.

The Western Railway's Mumbai division noted that a trolley wheel of the goods train derailed within the Dungri station yard, ensuring that traffic on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad route remained unaffected.

The train, heading to Palna in Kheda district of Gujarat from Chinchwad near Pune, derailed as Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw was reviewing railway safety and other matters at the Western Railway headquarters.
