Union Minister Bhagirath Choudhary has called for enhanced road and railway infrastructure in Mizoram to drive development in the region's tourism and agriculture sectors. During his visit to the northeastern state, the Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare noted Mizoram's significant potential for organic farming and wealth of natural resources.
Choudhary highlighted that while there are opportunities for selling Mizoram's agro products across India, inadequate road and communication infrastructure could impede progress. He stressed the need for coordinated efforts between the Centre and the state to resolve these challenges.
The minister pointed out that improving inter-state and intra-state road and railway networks is crucial for boosting tourism and economically uplifting Mizoram's farmers. He also mentioned that the Centre has devised schemes to support farmers affected by natural calamities and is working on crop insurance schemes yet to be implemented in Mizoram.
