Two people lost their lives, and nine sustained injuries when a private bus overturned after being rear-ended by another vehicle on National Highway 27 in Rajasthan's Baran district Tuesday morning, police confirmed.

The incident transpired as the driver of the lead bus made a sudden turn to dodge stray cattle that had wandered onto the road, resulting in the following bus crashing into it, authorities explained.

Baran City's Circle Inspector, Ramvilas Meena, stated that the accident took place around 10:15 AM on the Jhalawar road overbridge. Both the conductor and a passenger from the overturned bus died instantly, while the injured are receiving treatment at the Baran district hospital.

The crash led to the deceased being identified as Naresh Bairwa, 35, the bus conductor, and Mukesh Prajapat, 34, a passenger, both residents of Baran. The driver, conductor, and some passengers from the trailing bus fled the scene immediately after the incident.

Baran Collector Rohitashva Singh Tomar and Superintendent of Police Rajkumar Choudhary quickly responded to the site, deploying a crane to remove the overturned bus. Authorities have filed a case and handed over the bodies to the victims' families following an autopsy.
