CAG Report Uncovers Major Data Errors in Rajasthan's Vehicle Records

The Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) has identified significant data inaccuracies in Rajasthan's vehicle records. Issues include vehicles recorded with incorrect weights, registration dates, and seating capacities. The report also found duplicate chassis numbers and underage learner’s licenses. The transport department has been instructed to rectify these errors promptly.

The Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) has flagged significant inaccuracies in Rajasthan's vehicle records, revealing glaring errors and rule violations within the state's transport department.

According to the recently tabled CAG report, 15,570 vehicles were listed with unrealistically low weights of zero to three kilograms. Additionally, 119 vehicles appear to have been registered before their purchase dates, and 14 were recorded with weights exceeding one lakh kilograms.

Compounding the issues, 712 vehicles were found to have duplicate chassis or engine numbers, and 166 learner's licenses were issued to individuals under 18, violating the legal age requirement. The report underscores the need for immediate rectification to maintain data integrity and prevent future revenue losses from registration fee discrepancies.
