Specialty chemicals giant Lubrizol revealed a USD 200 million investment on Tuesday to establish a new manufacturing facility in Aurangabad, Maharashtra.

The company intends to bolster the region's growing transportation and industrial fluid markets through this new plant, according to a company statement.

The initial USD 200 million phase represents the company's most significant investment in India to date. Lubrizol has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Maharashtra government to acquire a 120-acre plot in Aurangabad for the project.

Upon completion, the facility will stand as Lubrizol's second-largest manufacturing site worldwide and its largest in India.

"This state-of-the-art facility will enhance our local capacity and capabilities for the Additives business, with potential future support for other Lubrizol divisions," said Lubrizol Additives President Flávio Kliger.

The company aims to accelerate its growth and improve local capacity in the region.

This announcement follows a USD 150 million commitment in 2023 for the world's largest Chlorinated Polyvinyl Chloride (CPVC) resin plant in Vilayat, Gujarat, and increased capacity at Lubrizol's site in Dahej, Gujarat.
