Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has announced that the state now enjoys a revenue surplus status, positioning it to meet most of its requirements independently.
During the Assembly's monsoon session, he presented a supplementary budget of over Rs 12,000 crore to aid Prime Minister Narendra Modi's $5 trillion economy vision and establish Uttar Pradesh as a $1 trillion state economy. He outlined that 44% of the original 2024-25 budget has been released, with 20% already spent, doubling the budget size from 2015-16.
The Chief Minister emphasized the state's economic growth, citing a rise in its share of the National GDP from 6-7% to 9-10%. He also noted significant infrastructure projects, including new expressways and a rapid rail service between Delhi and Meerut, which have dramatically cut travel times. The budget aims to boost investment while addressing resource mobilization effectively.
