Hundreds of SpiceJet passengers were left stranded at the Dubai airport on Wednesday after flights were cancelled due to unpaid dues to the airport authority, according to an inside source.
A SpiceJet spokesperson acknowledged on Thursday that several flights from Dubai to India were cancelled on Wednesday, citing operational reasons but without further details.
The informed source stated that around 10 SpiceJet flights destined for various Indian cities were cancelled owing to non-payment of dues.
The source further indicated that hundreds of passengers were stranded at Dubai airport.
"On July 31, 2024, a few flights from Dubai to India were cancelled due to operational reasons," the spokesperson said.
The airline reported taking immediate measures to mitigate the impact by rebooking affected passengers on subsequent flights and providing hotel accommodations.
The spokesperson added that all its scheduled flights from Dubai are now running as planned.
