The Indian Railways has announced the launch of new Vande Bharat trains without replacing existing services, confirmed Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw in a written Rajya Sabha reply on Friday.
Responding to AIADMK MP C. Ve. Shanmugam's inquiry on whether Vande Bharat trains would substitute all Super Fast Trains like Rajdhani, Vaishnaw clarified the trains would operate concurrently.
As of July 29, 2024, 102 Vande Bharat train services are operational across the Indian Railways network, particularly on Broad Gauge electrified routes, covering distances of up to 760 kilometers, Vaishnaw detailed.
