Indian Railways Launched 772 New Train Services in Five Years

From 2019 to 2024, Indian Railways added 772 new train services, including 100 Vande Bharat trains. The introduction of new services is part of an ongoing effort to meet passenger travel needs, as confirmed by Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw in response to BJP MP Neeraj Shekhar's query in the Rajya Sabha.

In a significant development, the Indian Railways has introduced as many as 772 new train services from 2019-2020 to 2023-2024. This includes 100 Vande Bharat services, as revealed by Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw during a Rajya Sabha session on Friday.

The announcement came in response to a written query from BJP MP Neeraj Shekhar, who sought detailed year-wise and zone-wise information on the introduction of new trains like the Vande Bharat, Rajdhani, and other services over the past five years, as well as plans for new trains in 2024-25.

"Indian Railways consistently introduces and operates various types of services to meet the diverse travel needs of passengers," Vaishnaw stated. He further explained that the introduction of train services is an ongoing process, depending on factors such as traffic justification, operational feasibility, and resource availability.
