The Odisha government on Saturday announced its plan to establish a task force, led by Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja, focusing on the development of a mega steel plant in Keonjhar, the home district of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi.

During a review meeting, Chief Minister Majhi emphasized the importance of this project, given Keonjhar's abundant resources like iron ore, power, and water. The task force aims to fast-track negotiations with potential investors for the proposed steel plant.

Industries Department Secretary Hemant Sharma highlighted the state's proactive industrial strategy, mentioning that the government has approved 674 out of 989 industry proposals. Additionally, 352 projects have been allocated land, and there are 12 active Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) proposals.
