Zepto Shifts Headquarters to Bangalore Amidst Major Expansion
Quick-commerce unicorn Zepto plans to relocate its headquarters and most of its employees to Bangalore, currently operating from a WeWork space in Mumbai. Over 700 employees are based in Bangalore with 400 more to join. The move is part of an expansion and the transition will be complete by Q1 2025.
Unicorn quick-commerce firm Zepto is shifting its headquarters and a majority of its workforce to Bangalore, according to sources familiar with the development.
Currently, Zepto's headquarters operates from a co-working space provided by WeWork at Jogeshwari in Andheri East, Mumbai.
The decision to move comes as WeWork is exiting the Jogeshwari building. Zepto already has over 700 employees based in Bangalore and plans to hire 400 more, offering them and existing staff the option to relocate to Bangalore. The headquarters move will centralize operations, with discussions ongoing regarding who will stay in Mumbai.
In June, Zepto raised $665 million in a funding round, tripling its valuation to $3.6 billion. Co-founder Aadit Palicha, who operates between Mumbai and Bangalore, and the technology team are already based in Bangalore, while a significant portion of the product team will also relocate. However, many in the operations team will remain in Mumbai.
Zepto aims to increase its office space in Bangalore to accommodate up to 2,000 seats. The company is providing relocation support, including travel, accommodation, and school admission for staff children, with the transition set to be fully operational by the first quarter of 2025.
