The British pound saw a rise on Tuesday after reports indicated an unexpected drop in Britain's unemployment rate for June. The jobless rate decreased to 4.2% from May's 4.4%, defying forecasts that anticipated an increase to 4.5%.
In response to the data, Sterling appreciated by 0.24%, climbing to $1.2797 from an earlier $1.2779. Conversely, the euro weakened against the pound, falling by 0.15% to 85.49 pence.
Additional figures unveiled that average weekly earnings, excluding bonuses, were 5.4% higher in the three months leading to June than a year earlier, marking a decline from May's 5.8% increase.
