Karnataka CM Promises Full Support to Foxconn for New Investment Projects
Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah pledged full government support to Taiwanese electronics giant Foxconn, urging further investment in the state. In discussions with Foxconn's CEO Young Liu, Siddaramaiah highlighted Karnataka's strengths in electronics manufacturing. Foxconn's new projects, including an iPhone assembly plant, are expected to generate over 50,000 jobs.
Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah pledged complete support to Taiwanese electronics giant Foxconn, urging the company to invest further in the state. During discussions with Foxconn's CEO Young Liu, Siddaramaiah emphasized Karnataka's strengths in electronics manufacturing and its robust ecosystem, including efficient logistics, reliable power, and a skilled workforce.
Foxconn is establishing an iPhone assembly plant, dubbed Project Elephant, on 300 acres in the ITIR Industrial Area, with a massive Rs 22,000 crore investment expected to generate employment for over 50,000 people. Construction is underway, with the Commerce & Industries Department actively securing necessary approvals.
The company is also setting up a mechanical components manufacturing facility for EV applications, known as Project Cheetah, on leased land in Bengaluru District. Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar and other senior officials were present at the meeting, underscoring the projects' importance to Karnataka's growth trajectory.
