Zomato, a leading food delivery company, announced plans to eliminate AI-generated images of dishes from restaurant menus following a slew of customer complaints, CEO Deepinder Goyal revealed on Sunday.
In a post on social media platform 'X', Goyal emphasized that while Zomato leverages AI to enhance operational efficiency, it strongly discourages using AI-generated images for menu items. 'AI-generated food images are misleading and have led to a breach of trust, increased complaints, and loss in ratings,' he stated.
Goyal urged restaurant partners to cease using AI for dish images and announced that Zomato would begin removing such images by month's end. He also encouraged restaurant owners lacking real food shots to contact Zomato's catalog support team. Concurrently, Zomato stocks surged by 1.77% amidst these announcements.
