The Indian benchmark indices experienced positive momentum at the opening session on Monday, echoing favorable global stock market sentiments. The Nifty 50 index rose by 0.39% or 95.20 points to 24,636.35, while the BSE Sensex saw an increase of 243.41 points or 0.30% to 80,680.25.

Broader market indices including Nifty Next 50, Nifty 100, Nifty 200, Nifty Midcap, and Nifty Small Cap mirrored the gains, starting the session on an optimistic note. Notably, the Nifty Media index emerged as the top sectoral performer, gaining 0.92% in the opening hours.

During the last financial quarter, sectors such as Capital Markets, Consumer Durables, Electronic Manufacturing Services, and Waste Management stood out, as per a report by ICICI Direct. "The index is nearing a resistance zone around 24,700, with the potential to close the 5th August downside gap. A strong move above 24,550 could drive further gains, targeting 24,700 and 25,000," stated Varun Aggarwal, MD, Profit Idea.

He further noted, "The recent green candlestick pattern on the Nifty 50, combined with its position above the 50-day EMA, hints at a bullish outlook. Traders should consider stocks consolidating near or below sector valuations for short-term opportunities." Across Asia, markets showed mixed results: the Asia Dow rose 2.82%, Japan's Nikkei 225 fell 0.42%, South Korea's KOSPI was marginally down by 0.01%, and the Shanghai Composite edged up 0.14% at the time of reporting.

In the U.S., markets closed slightly higher on Friday, with the Nasdaq Composite up 0.21%, the S&P 500 increasing by 0.20%, and the Dow Jones Industrial Average rising 0.24%. In commodities, oil prices were marginally lower, with WTI at USD 76.53 and Brent at USD 79.55. The U.S. Dollar Index saw a minor increase of 0.03%, trading at 102.43. (ANI)
