In a significant development, Mastercard and the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) have launched a nation-wide campaign aimed at raising cybersecurity awareness among small traders and merchants in India. The initiative, named 'Surakshit Vyapari, Safal Vyapar,' will focus on educating this segment about safeguarding against cyber fraud.
Throughout the Cybersecurity Awareness Month in October 2024, special training sessions and workshops will be organized to equip traders with the knowledge and tools necessary to combat cyberattacks. The urgency of this initiative is underscored by a 300% increase in reported cyber frauds over the past year, as noted by the Reserve Bank of India.
Praveen Khandelwal, Member of Parliament and National Secretary General of CAIT, emphasized the importance of cybersecurity for traders in the digital age, while Gautam Aggarwal, Division President of South Asia at Mastercard, stated that the program aligns with the Prime Minister's vision of a 'Cyber Safe' India. This initiative aims to build consumer trust and strengthen digital commerce in the country.
