Vistara's Final Flight: Merging Wings with Air India

Vistara will operate its last flight on November 11, as the airline merges with Air India from November 12. This move, approved by the government, includes foreign direct investment by Singapore Airlines. Vistara, a joint venture between Tata Group and Singapore Airlines, will see its operations unified under Air India, enhancing passenger experience with a larger fleet and broader network.

Vistara will operate its final flight on November 11, with the airline ending operations under its current brand from November 12 onwards. This development comes as part of the merger with Air India, which has received approval from the government for foreign direct investment by Singapore Airlines.

This merger is set to unify the operations of Vistara, a joint venture between Tata Group and Singapore Airlines, with Air India, also owned by Tata Group. From September 3, 2024, customers will not be able to make bookings with Vistara for travel beyond November 11, 2024. Subsequently, all Vistara's aircraft will be operated by Air India, and bookings will be redirected to Air India's platform.

Post-merger, Singapore Airlines will own a 25.1 percent stake in Air India. The merger aims to offer passengers enhanced options with a larger fleet and a wider network. Both airlines' teams have been collaborating to ensure a smooth transition for crew, staff, and customers. Air India CEO Campbell Wilson highlighted the significance of the Union Cabinet's approval for foreign investment, marking a critical milestone in the merger process and the broader transformation of the Air India Group.
