Bihar Rises as Emerging Business Hub with Rs 36,000 Crore Investments

Key infrastructure development and government initiatives aim to boost industrial growth and increase the state's share in India's export sector.

A total of 238 companies have completed formalities for a combined investment of Rs 36,000 crore in Bihar, positioning the state as a leading destination for business proposals, a senior minister announced on Monday. The total promises were part of a larger Rs 50,530 crore commitment made by 278 companies during the Bihar Business Connect 2023.
Bihar Industries Minister Nitish Mishra highlighted the state’s appeal to sizable investors, emphasizing that significant infrastructure improvements are being prioritized. These include enhancements in roads, drainage, street lighting, and investor facilitation centers in new industrial areas.
Efforts are underway to increase Bihar's contribution to India’s export sector, aiming for a rise from 0.52% to 5%. The state is also seeking foreign direct investment with the central government's coordination. Facilitation centers are planned for all sub-divisions to support new entrepreneurs. Meanwhile, substantial financial aids have been disbursed under the Mukhya Mantri Udyami Yojana and Bihar Laghu Udyami Yojana to reinforce MSMEs.
