QINGDAO, China, Sept. 11, 2024 /Xinhua-AsiaNet/ -- An event spotlighting China's marine ports' global prominence was held in Qingdao on August 27, 2024, unveiling the World-Class Marine Port Cluster Comprehensive Index 2024.

According to the report by China Economic Information Service, China's port clusters are now leading the global industry. Notably, port clusters in the Yangtze River Delta, Shandong Province, and Pearl River Delta join Japan's Tokyo Bay and the USA's New York-New Jersey clusters among the elite. With top-tier infrastructure and services, China's ports form a crucial global network, enhancing international trade competitiveness.

The updated Xinhua · Shandong Port Bulk Commodity Index, which includes new metrics for crude oil storage, supports both domestic and international markets. Meanwhile, the RCEP Seaborne Trade Index highlights China's dominant role in global trade, recording a slight increase in 2024, maintaining China's position as a global trade leader.
