Civil Aviation Minister K Rammohan Naidu announced on Monday that new legislative actions are planned to mitigate bomb threats targeting airlines. Such actions include placing individuals responsible for threats on a no-fly list.

Over the past week, nearly 100 flights operated by Indian airlines experienced bomb threats. Speaking at a briefing in the national capital, Naidu indicated that amendments to existing aviation security rules and the Suppression of Unlawful Acts Against Safety of Civil Aviation Act, 1982, are under consideration.

The Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) is actively consulting with the Ministry of Home Affairs about the ongoing bomb threats, according to Naidu. When asked if a conspiracy might be behind the threats, Naidu stated that investigations are ongoing but did not provide further details, reaffirming that passenger safety and security remain paramount.
