Disruption in Assam's Rail Network: Train Derailment Impacts Connectivity

A train derailment in Assam's Lumding-Badarpur hill section has disrupted connectivity between Assam's Barak Valley and Tripura for over 24 hours. The incident involved a grain-laden wagon that derailed in a tunnel, causing cancellations and partial cancellations of several trains. Restoration efforts are underway.

As a result, train movement in the area remains compromised, with 10 trains canceled and four partially operating. The disruption has persisted for over 24 hours, according to an official bulletin released on Friday.

Repair and restoration efforts are actively ongoing, with senior railway officials attending the site. Normal train operations are expected to resume later today, the Northeast Frontier Railway reported.
