Core Sector Slowdown: A November Shift in Industrial Growth
In November 2024, the growth of the eight core infrastructure sectors slowed to 4.3% from 7.9% the previous year. This deceleration is attributed to decreases in crude oil and natural gas production. Overall growth in these sectors from April to November was 4.2%, down from 8.7% last year.

The growth of India's eight core infrastructure sectors slowed to 4.3 percent in November 2024, a significant decline from the 7.9 percent growth recorded in the same month of the previous year, as per official data released on Tuesday.
This monthly performance demonstrated a resurgence from October 2024, when the production growth of these pivotal sectors hit a four-month peak, despite contractions in crude oil and natural gas outputs.
Notably, while coal, refinery products, and steel production saw moderated growth, cement output surged, driving an upward trajectory that analysts suggest could boost the Index of Industrial Production to a 5-7 percent increase in November.
