Delhi Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena has issued a directive to the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) to identify potential sites for the development of ropeways and cableways across the Yamuna River. The initiative seeks to establish a sustainable and non-polluting mode of transport in the capital.
According to a statement from Raj Niwas, this ropeway project will run from morning till night, with cable cars capable of carrying 50 passengers each. The DDA is tasked with selecting suitable sites near metro stations on either bank of the Yamuna, ensuring no encroachment on existing floodplains.
This development is expected to reduce dependency on polluting vehicles, alleviate road congestion, and offer direct routes to residential and work areas. The emphasis on public transport aims to minimize vehicular emissions and promote walking, aligning with broader environmental and health goals.
