The 5th Meeting of the National Traders' Welfare Board (NTWB) was convened on 11th February 2025 at Vanijya Bhawan, New Delhi, under the leadership of Shri Sunil J. Singhi, Chairman of NTWB. The meeting brought together key stakeholders to discuss recent developments and future strategies aimed at enhancing the welfare of small traders and Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).

In his opening remarks, Shri Sunil J. Singhi highlighted the significant initiatives introduced by the Central Government in the Union Budget 2025-26, which are aligned with the objectives of the NTWB. These initiatives aim to provide financial support, streamline regulatory processes, and enhance the overall business environment for small traders and MSMEs. Shri Singhi also emphasized the proactive approach of the board in addressing concerns raised by traders. He informed the attendees that various representations received from members and trade associations have been forwarded to the relevant Ministries and Departments for prompt action.

A key agenda of the meeting was to gather suggestions and inputs from board members to improve the dissemination and accessibility of welfare schemes related to the retail trade sector. Discussions focused on strategies to increase awareness, simplify application procedures, and ensure that the benefits of these schemes reach the grassroots level.

Major suggestions and representations from the board members were thoroughly discussed, with a particular focus on identifying actionable points that could be implemented in collaboration with various government bodies. The dialogue underscored the need for continued engagement between traders, trade associations, and government departments to create a supportive ecosystem for retail trade.

The meeting saw the participation of non-official members nominated by the Central Government, including representatives from various Trade Associations and States/Union Territories. Additionally, ex-officio members from nine key Ministries and Departments of the Government of India attended the session, reflecting a multi-stakeholder approach to trader welfare.

The 5th NTWB meeting concluded with a consensus on the importance of sustained efforts to address the challenges faced by small traders and MSMEs, ensuring their growth and contribution to the national economy.
