Honda's Profit Decline Amidst Termination of Talks with Nissan
Japanese automaker Honda reported a 7% decline in profit for April-December 2024, totaling 805 billion yen. Japanese automaker Honda disclosed a 7% decline in profit for the nine months ending in December. This downturn comes amidst the cessation of talks to merge operations with Nissan, another major player in the automotive industry.
The Tokyo-based company revealed that its motorcycle sales remain robust. However, diminished auto sales in key markets such as China and Japan impacted overall earnings. Despite the dip, demand in the United States remains resilient.
Honda's financial performance for April-December 2024 reflected a profit of 805 billion yen, a reduction from 869.6 billion yen during the same period in 2023. Meanwhile, sales experienced an increase of nearly 9%, reaching 16.3 trillion yen. Talks for a joint holding company with Nissan and Mitsubishi Motors have now been terminated, though existing collaborations in electric vehicles and smart car technologies will continue.
