A helicopter crash on a frozen reservoir in southeast Idaho left one person dead and another injured, according to authorities. The incident occurred Thursday at the Ririe Reservoir, situated east of Idaho Falls, and saw the involvement of multiple emergency agencies.
The Bonneville County Sheriff's Office reported that first responders reached the crash site using snowmobiles. They discovered two individuals in the helicopter; one was declared deceased at the scene, while the other was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The sheriff's office secured the area and has engaged the Federal Aviation Association and National Transportation Safety Board to determine the crash's cause. Investigations revealed a downed power line in the vicinity, but the reason for the helicopter's failure remains under review.
