Drug firm Granules India announced on Friday its acquisition of Swiss CDMO company Senn Chemicals AG for CHF 20 million (approximately Rs 192 crore). This strategic acquisition is aimed at bolstering Granules India's foothold in the peptide therapeutics market.
Senn Chemicals specializes in the development and manufacturing of peptides and peptide-based applications for a global clientele. The acquisition, which is anticipated to be finalized in the first half of 2025, marks a significant step for Granules India in expanding its contract research, development, and manufacturing (CDMO) services.
Krishna Prasad Chigurupati, Chairman & Managing Director of Granules India, emphasized that this move aligns with the company's commitment to innovation and affordability. Senn's expertise in peptide synthesis, complemented by Granules' large-scale manufacturing capabilities, is expected to deliver high-quality peptide-based solutions worldwide, enhancing the company’s innovation trajectory.
Rico Wiedenbruch, Chairman of Senn Chemicals AG, expressed optimism about the merger, highlighting how Granules' scale and global reach could accelerate Senn's growth in peptide therapeutics.
