Assam's once turbulent history of insurgency and unrest has given way to peace and prosperity under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, according to Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. Speaking at the Advantage Assam 2.0 Investment & Infrastructure Summit 2025 in Guwahati, Sarma praised Modi for pivotal infrastructure and industrial projects that have powered Assam's transformation.

"After 2016, Assam underwent a significant rebirth," asserted Sarma. The state, once notorious for its disturbances, is now hailed as the country's most peaceful region, thanks to Modi's governance. Projects like the Tata-DoRa semiconductor facility and a greenfield fertilizer plant in Namrup underscored the central government's commitment to Assam's industrial expansion.

Sarma reminisced about the achievements from the inaugural 2018 Advantage Assam summit, noting developments such as the Rs 27,000 crore expansion of the Numaligarh Refinery. Highlighting the state's infrastructure boom, he pointed out the construction of 2,327 kilometers of national highways since 2016 and a doubling of GDP from USD 29 billion to USD 68.7 billion. The summit seeks to lure investments and bolster economic growth, with prominent figures like PM Modi and top industrialists in attendance.
