At the Nasscom Technology and Leadership Forum, Capgemini India's CEO Ashwin Yardi proposed a 47.5-hour workweek, suggesting employees work nine hours a day over five days, and he discouraged sending work emails on weekends.
Yardi emphasized the importance of respecting employees' personal time, aligning with Capgemini's culture of adapting to the expectations of younger, tech-savvy workers.
This stands in contrast with industry figures like N R Narayana Murthy and S N Subrahmanyan, who have advocated for extended work hours. Other voices at the event, including Marico's Saugata Gupta, stressed that achieving results should take precedence over the number of hours worked.
