Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari has unveiled ambitious plans to launch road projects valued at Rs 80,000 crore in Assam. Speaking at the Advantage Assam 2.0 business summit, Gadkari highlighted key initiatives, including the Guwahati ring road, a tunnel beneath the Brahmaputra River, and an elevated corridor at Kaziranga National Park.
Gadkari emphasized that these projects are part of a larger infrastructure development agenda under his ministry, forecasting that by 2029, infrastructure ventures worth Rs 3 lakh crore will be realized in Assam. This includes both upcoming projects and those currently underway.
Efforts to upgrade Assam's road networks are already in full swing, with ongoing work on projects worth Rs 60,000 crore at various stages of completion. This initiative aims to significantly enhance the state's transport infrastructure, drive economic growth, and boost connectivity.
