In a move to boost regional transport aircraft manufacturing, the Indian government is establishing a special purpose vehicle, according to Civil Aviation Minister K Rammohan Naidu. The initiative is part of India's broader strategy to become a global hub for aircraft production.
Addressing the Rajya Sabha, Naidu outlined the government's policies to foster an environment conducive to manufacturing aircraft and components. By standardizing the IGST rate, the government aims to enhance MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul) activities in the country.
With over 1,500 planes ordered by domestic carriers and a fast-growing aviation market, India is poised for significant developments in civil aviation. The minister emphasized the importance of skilling and state participation in achieving these goals.
