Over 30.68 crore unorganised workers, with more than half being female, have enrolled on the e-Shram portal, as reported by Union Minister Shobha Karandlaje in a Lok Sabha statement. The e-Shram platform, introduced on August 26, 2021, aims to create a comprehensive database of India's unorganised workforce, linked with Aadhaar.
In line with the government's vision, the e-Shram portal was expanded on October 21, 2024, to act as a 'One-Stop-Solution' for accessing various social security schemes. The platform now integrates 13 central schemes, allowing registered workers to effortlessly check and avail benefits through e-Shram.
To enhance accessibility, the Ministry of Labour and Employment introduced multilingual support on January 7, 2025, using the Bhashini platform, enabling interaction in 22 Indian languages. Additionally, the e-Shram mobile application, launched on February 24, 2025, provides real-time access to integrated welfare schemes, significantly benefiting unorganised workers.
