The Uttar Pradesh government announced on Monday that it will revise land circle rates in various districts, including Lucknow, to ensure fair compensation for landowners, primarily farmers. By aligning land prices with current market rates, the government aims to facilitate development projects across the state.
Since January 1, 2024, revisions have been completed in 37 districts, with ongoing and upcoming changes in others, according to a government statement. District officials are in charge of setting annual minimum prices for both agricultural and non-agricultural lands, and they have the option to revise these rates during the year if necessary.
A recent review, led by Chief Secretary Manoj Kumar Singh, highlighted the need to expedite the revision process in districts where circle rates have not been adjusted for years. Target areas for imminent revisions include high-profile districts such as Lucknow, Varanasi, and Gorakhpur, while revisions are currently progressing in areas like Shamli and Agra.
