The European Union has ramped up its trade dispute with the United States by publicizing a list of American imports that may face retaliatory tariffs. This move follows President Donald Trump's imposition of duties on EU goods, intensifying the ongoing trade conflict between the two powers.
The European Commission, responsible for managing trade for the bloc, has simultaneously initiated legal proceedings at the World Trade Organization (WTO). The action challenges what the commission describes as 'reciprocal' tariffs from the Trump administration, which they argue breach WTO regulations.
As negotiations continue, the EU has prepared measures to counteract a broad spectrum of US products worth 95 billion euros. The targeted list includes significant sectors such as aircrafts, vehicle parts, and alcoholic beverages, reflecting the complexity and scale of the transatlantic trade tensions.
