Train services to Tripura, Mizoram, Manipur, and southern Assam remain suspended for the second consecutive day due to a landslide in the Lumding–Badarpur hill section, reportedly caused by improper road repair work by the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI).
Railway teams are working diligently, under senior officials' supervision, to restore the tracks blocked by mud and stones. Approximately 50,000 cubic meters of debris descended into the area, with around 30,000 cubic meters still needing clearance. Efforts include deploying heavy machinery and personnel, aiming for rapid restoration.
Several train services, including the Agartala - SMVB Express and Silchar-New Delhi Express, face cancellations as passenger safety is prioritized. NFR advises travelers to seek real-time updates via official channels while top officials devise strategies with state authorities and NHAI to resolve the situation promptly.
