InterGlobe Aviation, the parent company of domestic carrier IndiGo, announced on Thursday the appointment of Amitabh Kant as a Non-Executive Director to its board. Kant, a former Niti Aayog CEO and India's G20 Sherpa, resigned from the latter position last month.
Kant's appointment awaits regulatory and shareholder approvals. 'IndiGo is excited to welcome such a distinguished personality with rich administrative experience,' said Vikram Singh Mehta, Chairman of IndiGo's Board of Directors. His leadership, developed over years of managing large-scale global projects, is expected to benefit IndiGo's international expansion.
Reflecting on his appointment, Kant expressed eagerness to contribute to IndiGo's vision of becoming a global player by 2030. He emphasized how IndiGo's scale and international ambitions will transform India's airports into global hubs, boosting trade, tourism, and economic growth.
