India lashed out at the United States on Wednesday, labeling an additional 25% tariff on Indian products as unfair, unjustified, and unreasonable.
The US decision came after President Donald Trump issued an executive order penalizing India's ongoing purchase of Russian crude oil despite Western sanctions. This new measure compounds the existing 25% tariffs previously announced by the US.
In response, India's Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) promised decisive action to defend national interests, emphasizing that oil imports are motivated by the need to ensure energy security for India's 1.4 billion people. The MEA criticized the US for targeting India's oil strategy, actions mirrored by several other nations.
